Welfare cuts fail to boost school attendance

The Minister for education yesterday released the evaluation report on the SEAM scheme. Despite the $3 million cost the outcomes are not clearly favourable as the ABC reported. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-02-02/20120202-school-attendance-welfare-pay-link-trial/3807952 Nigel Scullion the Shadow Minister called the scheme a joke.

It’s concerning to note that the Government has included SEAM in its Stronger Futures Bill, despite the lack of evidence for its success. This Bill is currently before a Sente inquiry, but has already been passed by the Lower House.
